I have tried communicating with Hulu on their Facebook page (even in their own comments section of their blog) attempting to find out when they planned on releasing a version of the Hulu Plus app for Android tablets. At this moment I am only hearing crickets. A few weeks after my update stating that Marvel would be coming off of the bench, both Crackle and Adult Swim released apps for android tablets. At this rate we could possibly vanquish our list by first quarter of 2012.(Were waiting Hulu)....

My birthday was two weeks ago (thank you). I received some really nice gifts. I got a great drill and a few other nice things. The one thing I didn't get that I would love to have was an Android Market gift card. That would be because they don't exist. thinking that i must be mistaken, I drove down to the local Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens. there were iTunes gift cards, Best Buy gift cards, Burger King gift cards and Zynga gift cards. No Android Market gift cards! This is a Major business flaw. Google is now selling Books, Music, Apps and renting Movies through the Android Market and it seems that no one thought to put gift cards in the hands of the public. You could sell more Apps with gift cards in circulation.

Example:

junior is in high school his parents got him an Android phone. Junior wants apps and music for his phone, but has limited funds. its Christmas time Granny asks Junior what he would like. Junior responds with Android Market gift card. She gets it for him. now junior has his apps and music and the developers and artist are actually getting paid.

Its probably too late this year but please Google get this done. I am sure that others agree with me on this so don't leave us hanging.

Wow some one read my post...

Shh someone at marvel read my last post where I complained about the lack of an android app. Here we are less then a week later and marvel came through. I own two android devices, the Motorola DroidX and the Motorola Xoom. My wife has an iPad for her business that she lets me use for testing of apps and to check my site design work. I am a gadget person, a web person. With all of that said I am writing this short article to address a pet peeve of mine, mainstream media's exclusion of apps for the Android platform.

A common complaint by iOs developers on the subject of Android is that “Android development takes a lot of work and supports too many devices.” While that may be a valid excuse, it is still just an excuse. I am not focusing on the small developers working on their own, my focus is on the large corporations who refuse to make an Android app while blocking web content on mobile devices.

I want to take the time to thank CBS for getting TV.com on Android (still needs some ui tweaks on Honeycomb) while Hulu, ABC, NBC, and Netflix sat on their thumbs. Hulu’s still dragging their feet on tablets. ABC and Marvel have made no steps toward Android ready apps. Probably having to do with the fact that an important person at Apple was the largest shareholder at Disney(their parent company).

I wouldn’t care about apps if some of these companies didn’t block web content and implement adaptive design techniques through html5, css3, and jquery, so that no matter what device you are on its the same. Then developers for these companies could give up their lame excuses and release content for everyone. Below I am listing several companies that need to get on the ball.
thanks for listening to my rant.

PBS (you’d figure they would have had android app 2 years ago)

Marvel (DC already has one)

Wired (this app has been promised for a year now)

NBC (stop blocking stuff on your site)

HULU (phone works great the tablet version would be nice though)

ABC (you realize CBS is the old people network and they already have one)

Adult Swim (....)

Crackle (complete the tablet version and you will be all set)

Flipboard (i would love love love to see you)

Vimeo (either an app or fix your site design, maybe)

TED (here’s a new idea...)

Reboot

All of my old content here has been rebooted to make way for something new.
